The earliest posts on this site, from 2017, are technical write-ups about security on the cloud. One shows how to collect intrusion-detection alerts from servers into CloudWatch Logs and Elasticsearch, so they can be searched and charted. The posts that follow are similar in kind: blocking suspicious hosts automatically, locking down the origin behind a content delivery network, and encrypting specific form fields.
In 2021 I built something different: a camera pointed at a bird feeder, a machine-learning model that names the species, and a web gallery that updates itself. In 2025 I built a note-taking system. I send a message to a Slack bot, and an AI agent decides how to file it and where it should go.
Put in date order, the posts move from securing systems, to connecting devices and models, to working with AI agents.
What I write about has moved along with them. Early on it was how to build and secure a system. Now it is how AI changes the way a business works. I keep a dated record of that thinking at Turning AI capability into business results. The older posts stay up as they were.
